Well, I just don't think that voting for two different parties on one ballot is an indicator of thoughtful voting, independent or not. Lake County might have considered their decision as well as Marion did. So, I don't like or dislike that stat.

Whatever you think of Mitch, the stat says that Indianapolis has a lot of ticket-splitting independent-minded people. Lake County went for Long Thompson almost as much as it went for Obama (which was as much as Marion County went for Obama).

Not knowing much about Mitch, other than he went with green signs instead of red, I can't say if that's a good stat. However, there was talk that Jill Long Thompson had an incredibly weak game, so I'm not surprised.

A stat I like: there were a minimum 74,234 voters in Marion County (Indianapolis) who voted for Obama and the incumbent Republican governor, Mitch Daniels. Obama carried the county with 64% while the Democrat for governor only won 42%.

Truly inspiring that so many people are voting. This also means I lied since I mentioned somewhere how there would not be huge lines for voting early on. Oops.
